Palo Santo Incense Cones

Making your own incense is super easy and fun!

The basic formula for natural incense is very simple:

Base + Binder + Aromatic + Water = Incense Dough

Base:
Wood powder is the most common type of base material for ensuring smooth, even burning of incense.

To make this cones I'm using Palo Santo, a Sacred wood from the forest of Peru and other countries in South America.
Is used for calming, spiritual purifying, energy cleansing and to inspire creativity.

Binder:
The binder is a form of glue that holds the incense together in the shape you choose.
I'm using xanthan gum, this type of binder add no scent to the blend, so you don’t have to worry about their impact.

Aromatic:
The ingredient you choose to use for the aromatics is what you actually want to smell, you can choose herbs like sage or lavender.

Water:
Water will be needed to activate your binder.

Depending on the temperature and humidity of the environment, as well as the size of the incense cones, they will typically take about a week to dry.

Materials:
  • 1 tbsp Palo Santo powder
  • Some cloves
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/4 tsp xanthan gum
  • Water
