3 Ingredients Lip Balm

Making your own lip balm at home is not only satisfying but also ensures you know exactly what’s going on your skin.

Whether you’re new to DIY skincare or just looking for a quick, eco-friendly project, this vegan lip balm tutorial is a fantastic place to start.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 3g Candelilla wax (1tsp) - This plant-based wax acts as a natural barrier, locking in moisture and providing a smooth texture.
  • 4g Shea Butter (1tsp) - Shea butter is deeply nourishing and gives the balm a creamy consistency, making it ideal for chapped lips.
  • 4g Coconut Oil (1tsp) - Known for its moisturizing properties, coconut oil keeps lips soft and hydrated.
INSTRUCTIONS:

1 In a double boiler, add the candelilla wax, shea butter, and coconut oil. Melt the mixture slowly over low heat, stirring gently until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth.
2 Once the ingredients are melted, turn off the heat and add the fragrance. (optional)
3 Carefully pour the mixture into small lip balm containers or tubes. You’ll need to act quickly as candelilla wax sets fast.
4 Allow the balm to cool completely and solidify at room temperature or in the refrigerator. Once it’s set, it’s ready for use!

Tips:

  • Vitamin E: Add 3 drops to help preserve the balm and keep it fresh longer.
  • Tinting: For a hint of color, add add 2/3 tsp of beetroot powder or a pinch of natural mica powder.
  • Fragrance: A few drops of a fragrance that’s safe for contact with the lips (I use blueberry) can give your balm a lovely scent.

This vegan lip balm is perfect for keeping your lips protected during the chilly season ahead. The combination of candelilla wax, coconut oil, and shea butter creates a rich barrier that locks in moisture, shielding your lips from cold, dry air.
