Why Make Your Own Marmalade?
  1. Healthier Sweetness: Maple syrup and apple pectin create a balanced, natural sweetness, making this recipe perfect for those avoiding refined sugar.
  2. Natural Ingredients Only: Forget about artificial preservatives and thickeners. This marmalade uses the natural pectin from an apple to set beautifully.
  3. Eco-Friendly and Homemade: Making marmalade at home means less waste and the joy of knowing exactly what’s in your food.
  4. Customizable Texture: Whether you like it chunky or smooth, you’re in control of the consistency.

INGREDIENTS:
  • 1kg Organic oranges
  • 1 Organic apple (to provide natural pectin)
  • 100g Water
  • 30g Maple Syrup
INSTRUCTIONS:

1 Wash the oranges and the apple.
2 Peel the oranges, keeping the zest in strips (you can use a vegetable peeler) avoiding the bitter white pith. Slice the zest into thin strips. Don’t throw away the peels we’ll use them for other recipes!
3 Chop the orange flesh into small chunks, removing any seeds.
4 Peel and core the apple, chopping it into small pieces. The apple’s skin is rich in pectin.
5 In a large pot, combine the orange chunks, apple pieces, water and maple syrup.
6 Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer.
7 After 30 minutes of simmering, blend with an immersion blender.
8 Stir in the orange zest strips. This ensures the zest softens and melds with the marmalade.
9 After 40-50 minutes of simmering, place a small spoonful on a cold plate. If it wrinkles when pushed, the marmalade is ready. If it’s still too runny, continue simmering, checking every 5 minutes.
10 Pour the hot marmalade into sterilized jars, leaving a little space at the top. Seal tightly, turn them upside down and let cool to room temperature. Store in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate after opening.
