Christmas Ornament Series Part 3: Paper (+ Homemade Glue!)
Let’s keep the Christmas spirit alive with another creative project!
If you want to keep things eco-friendly and homemade, you can even make your own glue for this project! It’s simple to prepare using ingredients you already have at home.
Ingredients:
- 1 part flour
- 1 part sugar
- 2 parts water
Instructions:
- In a small saucepan, mix the flour and sugar together.
- Gradually add the water, stirring until smooth.
- Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens into a glue-like consistency.
- Let it cool before using.
One of the great things about this homemade glue is that it’s not only eco-friendly, but also safe for young children! Since it’s made with flour, sugar, and water, it’s completely edible, so you don’t have to worry if little hands decide to taste it while crafting. It’s a perfect option for kids to get involved in the crafting fun, making it a wonderful family activity. Just keep an eye on them and enjoy the creative process together!
If you have leftover glue, you can easily store it for later use. Simply transfer it to an airtight container or jar and keep it in the refrigerator. It should last for about a week. Before using it again, just give it a good stir to make sure it’s smooth. If it has thickened too much, you can add a little water to reach the desired consistency.
Now we’re ready to start with the main project!
